St Helens is well placed to discover the North York Moors and coastline and is an excellent base for touring by car, bicycle or foot being just 10 minutes from Scarborough, 15 minutes from Pickering and within easy reach of Whitby, York, Filey and Bridlington.

Buses to Scarborough or Pickering and Helmsley stop at our own private bus stop just outside the gate. 

North Yorkshire Water Park is just two miles along the road, providing water sports such as sailing, canoeing and both coarse and game fishing.

North Yorkshire Water Park

The North Yorkshire Water Park is just a short walk away from the campsite. It offers a floating AquaPark, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, windsurfing and open water swimming. New for 2018 are the mini port electric ships and pedalos!

The AquaPark is a ‘Total Wipeout’ inflatable obstacle course with climbing walls, trampolines, balance bars, rockers, rollers and blast bags for people to jump, swim and climb on and for the whole family to enjoy.

Wykeham Fishing Lakes

The popular Wykeham Fishing Lakes are only a short walk away from the campsite. With four fresh water lakes, it is an ideal place for trout fishing and a variety of course fishing. The Lakes are home to the largest Pike in England.

Wykeham Village

The pretty little village of Wykeham is home to a variety of amenities. You can dine at the Downe Arms, Wykeham’s four star country inn, have afternoon tea in the village tea rooms or stroll around the weekly village market where you can purchase locally reared and sourced goods.


The Scarborough sea front is only a 20 minute drive away and with great places to eat and drink, an open air theatre, award winning sandy beaches, and a breathtaking coastline perfect for walking and cycling there are plenty of fun holiday activities to keep the family entertained.

North York Moors National Park

St Helens sits on the edge of the famous North York Moors National Park, alongside the rich vale of Pickering and close to the rolling Yorkshire Wolds. The beautiful landscapes, vast woodlands and variety of wildlife make this area a truly spectacular place to visit.
