Sustainability Statement
At St. Helens in the Park, we are deeply committed to environmental sustainability and responsible stewardship of the land. Our mission is to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our park. As well as contributing to a more sustainable future for our community and the planet.
Our sustainability principles include:
- Conservation: We actively conserve and protect the park’s natural ecosystems. This is to ensure the preservation of wildlife habitats and biodiversity. In 2022 we received the David Bellamy Conservation Award.
- Resource management: We employ responsible resource management practices to minimise waste, reduce energy consumption, and limit water usage.
- Green initiatives: We are dedicated to implementing and supporting green initiatives. These include recycling programs and using renewable energy sources, such as our 150kw solar development.
- Education and engagement: We strive to educate our visitors about the importance of sustainability and engage them in sustainable practices while in the park. We also host forest schools for several childcare and educational providers. This helps our younger community better connect with the natural environment and understand the importance of biodiversity and sustainability.
- Local collaboration: We collaborate with local organisations, businesses, and the community to foster sustainability initiatives and promote eco-friendly practices.
- Sustainable events: We host and support events which follow sustainable event practices, including waste reduction and eco-conscious transportation options.
- Continuous improvement: We regularly assess and improve our sustainability efforts, setting goals to minimize our environmental footprint.
- Innovation: We embrace innovation and emerging technologies to explore new ways to promote sustainability within the park.
We recognise sustainability is a shared responsibility. This is why St. Helens in the Park is dedicated to the preservation of our natural environment. We are committed to being a leader in sustainable park management, while inspiring our visitors to join us in this vital mission.
